Flanked by mountains and with beautiful beaches, it offers an almost perfect climate with an average annual temperature of 20ºC. Agriculture, fishing and tourism are the towns main industries. Historically, Nerja dates back to Palaeolithic times, however its name originates from Arabic: NARIXA (meaning abundant spring). The open, inviting friendly people, classic traditions such as Carnival, Holy Week, the fiestas and Patron Saints´ Days and its proximity to major cities make Nerja the ideal place to study our language and culture. Nerja's Prehistoric Caves and the small white villages in the surrounding area are well worth visiting for their historic and individual charm. With Nerja being a Mediterranean Coastal Village, all types of water sports are available in addition to tennis, swimming, horse-riding and hiking, all of which can be organized around our array of Spanish courses. You can also make the most of your free time by visiting the local bars and restaurants which serve typical regional dishes, and tapas as well as enjoying our traditional art of Flamenco. With our school you can learn Spanish in a classic, beautiful village in a school that was a finalist 3 of the last 4 years for the STAR Award for excellence in Language studies.
